he he - it's been awhile.
6th form, that ideal place, the status that instantly says "respect"... or that's what it looked like from lower-school.
I do love it, don't get me wrong. I'm into my 4th month of being a year 12 and it's the best school has ever been - but who would've thought there'd be so much work. Eight teachers, four subjects and a shed load of work from each of them. Essays especially... ouch.
It's a surreal feeling, though, when you walk down that packed corridor, and the crowds part for you. No longer are you crushed under the feet of those over-grown year 11s, or bundled down the stairs as the class of year 7s all rush out in one go... no, no-one dares touch a 6th-former.
It's funny, really. I have to be the most un-intimidating person ever, yet somehow wearing my own clothes is enough to scare a year 7 silly if i chose to... or maybe that's just my dress sense.
But it's not just the status you gain - it's also the trust. Teachers seem to have just that little bit more respect for you, enough that you don't need a cover teacher when they're away, you can say you enjoy a subject to your class mates and not fear being labelled as a nerd.
Overall, 6th form is good. Essays or no, this is the time in our lives where the level of responsibility on us can be called freedom.
